How can you build a strong online presence as an Introvert?
1. Understanding Yourself Self-Exploration
Knowing yourself should be your first task. In an online world before connecting with others, please connect with yourself.
Everyone is unique in some way. Try to figure out what sets you apart from others.
Figure out; Who you are? What do you have unique? How are you?
Hey, I’m not talking about your name and gender or your status in society but your personality, mindset, and character. That’s what is more vital.
Key things you must know about yourself.
- Skills, expertise and talent.
- Interest, Passion and Unique Quality.
- Strength and Weaknesses.
- Your goals, aims and ambitions.
The better you know yourself, the better you will be able to present yourself in front of an audience.
2. Understanding Your audience
There’s a very famous quote “Behind every successful man there is women”.
Similarly, behind every successful business or a personal brand there is “the audience”. Never ever ignore your audience.
It’s the trust of the audience, their loyalty and support that transform an individual into a brand.
And, In this competitive digital space earning the trust of the audience and maintaining a long run healthy relation has become very crucial.
Now you may wonder, How can I earn a loyal audience?
Here are a few basic ways to earn the trust of the audience.
- Authenticity is the key, be true to them and never clickbait or compromise their trust.
- You must know your audience from all aspects.
Like, Who are they? What do they want? How Do they want? Their challenges and pain-points.
And try to solve their problems with the help of your content.
3. Choosing the right platform to connect with the audience
According to me, choosing the right Platform and Format for your content depends on three things.
- Your Comfortability
- Content topic or subject
- And, audience
- Your comfortability
You can either go with video, blog or podcast.
- Content topic or subject
If your subject is practical or creative like dancing or cooking or sports then video format will be the best choice but for theoretical or educational topics you can also go with blogging or podcast.
- And, audience
Figure out what type of content format your audience loves to consume and go for it.
If you want to create a strong online presence. Then I would highly suggest you go with video creation.
There are so many options you can go with like YouTube, Instagram, and Tiktok, depending on where your audience is engaging.
With the video format the audience feels more attached and closer to you. It will not only enhance face value but also your credibility and authority will get boosted.
Now you may say, I am an introvert. How can you ask me to create a video?
Look, I’m not asking you to deliver a speech in front of hundreds and thousands of people. You just have to record and upload your video from the comfort of your personal space where no one is there to judge, evaluate, or laugh at you.
I know that content creation is a little bit challenging in the beginning but once you get the habit, It will be just a game of a few steps.
If you still feel video creation or YouTube is a difficult task then you can go for blogging or podcasts.
But in the beginning decide one format be it a video or article and focus all your energy on growing it.
In your first year just focus on one thing and try to give your 100 percent for it.
Building a successful online presence is not a day and night game. It takes time and needs patience and consistency in work.
4. Social Media Setup
Not only individuals but business and entrepreneurs are also using social media for marketing themselves. Because they’re aware about the power of social media.
Social media is one of the best and most organic way to build a loyal audience and engage with them.
So set up your social media accounts.
- It must look professional and not childish.
- You can attach your previous experience, skills, and certification for increasing credibility and authenticity.
- Start creating helpful and relevant content for your audience consistently.
Replying to comments, and messages, live streaming, and webinars are good ways to engage with the audience.
5. Content Creation
How many of you know Mr. Breast a YouTuber? He is one of the most popular digital creators and all credit goes to his video content.
Similarly, if you wanna be that famous personality then your content should prove it.
Focus on creating high-quality content, and to do so you have to have a good research skill.
- Research, what your audience needs?
- Analyse your competitors content and his audience too,
It will help you to design and craft your content.
Always keep updating and renovating your content with the latest trends for letting it go viral.
Also, twist your content with some entertaining script to boost engagement. And design the intro of a video or article in such a way that viewers should stick till the end.
6. Balance your offline and Online life
Giving your best in an online world, working hard to enhance your online presence. It’s fantastic and you should do it.
But, Have you ever thought of your offline presence? I mean your “ Offline Brand ”.
Yeah, you should also devote some time to build an offline presence.
Though you are assuming yourself as an introvert the offline word is not banned for you
Your physical presence matters more than your online presence. when you’re talking with someone face to face not only the practical side but also your emotional side gets triggered. Your aura, your energy gets interconnected which then helps in strengthening relations and trust
For example:
Have you ever noticed, why you feel so connected with your parents? Why is your relationship with your parents so strong?
It would most likely be because you were physically in touch with them. All those engaging activities, and chit-chatting with your parents had helped build trust and emotional attachment in your relations.
Am I right?
And, Now for one sec
Let’s just assume that,
Your parenting and caring was totally done through an online mode, like using zoom call or video call.
What If your parents have never been with you physically. Will you be able to trust or believe them? Would you be able to feel a strong connection or emotional attachment with those kind online parents?
For me, Absolutely Not!
In building a strong brand image your physical presence is also a must.
Rather than just focusing on online fame, devote some energies in building an offline presence, in engaging with people or the audience being physically present there.
7. Measure and Rwfune yourself
Keep track of your performance.
See, What you create doesn’t matter much, what actually matters is, How do you create it? How do you present it in front of your audience?
I am not saying to change yourself but measure yourself. Keep track of how well you are improving and updating yourself. If you don’t evolve with time , time will dissolve you completely. your identity will be lost in the race.
For example:
Today you have created a video for YouTube or an article for your blog. Once you publish it rather than judging it, learn from it and evaluate it. That’s more important.
Just look out, what do you feel after going through that video or an article? figure out, What the video lacks? What can be improved and How can I be better next time?
Your audience can help you in improving you. Simply ask them for feedback, comments and replies.
Ask them “what they want from you?” and “How do they want?”
This will not only increase engagement on your content but also the relationship with the audience will be better and stronger.
8. Networking
Networking is a great skill. You can also define it as “connecting with new people and building relations”.
So why is networking important?
In simple terms, networking is nothing but making new friends and having good friendships is always like a boon. They will always be there for you in your tough times. They will support you emotionally, professionally, or in any way they can or you want.
So networking is the same as having good relationships with good people, connecting with people who are more likely like you, and having similar mindsets, goals, professions, and thoughts will help you in getting new career opportunities.
As I said above, networking is a social art of making new friends and maintaining old ones.
If you’re wondering, how an introvert can grow his network? Then you’re stressing on the wrong question. Instead, you should ask, How can an introvert make friends?
Let me tell you, “Networking” may sound like a physics subject but “making friends” sounds sweeter and more relaxed.
Words aren’t just words, they have the power to affect your mentality. So “Networking may feel difficult to do but making friends is like… . … Ha Ha, I can do that!
Just think of your school days, especially about your friends. How many fellows from your class were your friends? Not one or three but the whole class was your friend, right? Including girls, fortunately!
Believe me, networking is not any quantum physics that needs lots of expertise and skill. In fact it’s a normal way to connect with new people of the same mindsets.
It’s very similar to how two kids become friends because of their interest in watching the same cartoon.
Fun fact was that those kids were not aware of networking at all.
Kids will never think of whether they’re an introvert or an extrovert. They will only focus on their ultimate goal which is watching cartoons and no one can stop or distract them. And indirectly while watching cartoons they become friends.
It’s that simple, isn’t it? It doesn’t matter whether you’re an introvert or not, you can easily network with like minded people. But for that your 100 percent of focus should be on your ultimate goal, like watching cartoons for kids.
9. SEO Basics
SEO is something every creator should know and learn, especially if you are in YouTube or blogging.
You don’t need to be an expert in SEO but you should have basic sense about it.
What is it? and How to do it?
SEO is a simple way using which you can help Google or YouTube or any social media platform in recognising what actually is your content about.
for example :
if your article or video is about “how to make money online” then you must go with the title of your video anything related to it, like “want to make money online” or “best way to make money online”
You can simply check out expert videos on YouTube about SEO and how to do it.
And please don’t waste much of your time on learning SEO unlessless and until you want to become an SEO expert and build a career in it.
Final Thought
Building an online presence can be easily doable by anyone. Being an introvert it will be very easy to earn the trust of your audience, as I have seen that for an Introvert lying to someone is like an impossible task.
So people love to connect with loyal people, they listen to them and engage with them.
Just keep creating content, keep believing yourself first then and then only others will believe in you. Am I right?
And consistency is the key as building an online brand is a journey and a continuous journey beyond your life, so let’s enjoy it!
